The main purpose of this map is to illustrate my ability to conduct hydrologic modeling in ArcGIS Pro in order to delineate the watershed upstream from a water sample site and conduct some spatial analysis. The fictional water sample containing E. coli illicits a need to uncover potential sources of contamination; here, agricultural lands within the watershed upstream. The agricultural lands found here are from the National Land Cover Database, totaling close to six hundred thousand acres – a lot of land to investigate!
Maps representing scientific inquiries often require use of a larger map board (as seen below) to provide more descriptive areas explaining its purpose and data sources. It is possible however to further distill this information into a “tighter” map space as the picture above suggests; however, this would need to be refined a little further (e.g., containing more information in the legend).
